The parable of the bamboo seeds, your soul’s fertile creative gardens, your life’s unshakeable potential, and the seeds of your becoming that are waiting patiently to be sown.
I think the most valuable aspect is the idea of delayed gratification. Folks nowadays want that winning lottery ticket. It's wiser to tend to our garden and slow grow it.
What a beautiful story to illustrate patience, love and commitment to the natural world. I do love the balance that this story has when Yu gets to experience the world herself after all that. Because I really do think that the purpose of life is to experience it as fully as you can. And that is to say, to minimise guilt, shame and regret while living it.
Wow, this came at the absolute perfect moment. If theres one person this newsletter was for—it may have been me 😂. This week has been rough, I’ve had moments of wanting to throw in the towel, I’m exhausted but still hopeful, passionate, and excited. I realized I’ve been at it for 9 years, and just yesterday my mom said to me: you’re right there and you want to give up now? When its on the horizon? I will think of these bamboo seeds for a long time. Thank you for a beautiful story. 🙏🏽
Nadia, thank you so so SO much for this beautiful comment. I can't even tell you how much it lifted my spirit. To know this resonated with you and found you at the right time fills me with so much joy and happiness and fulfillment. I can't wait to read your work and I'm so thankful to you for spending time with this story. I am sending big gratitude & love your way!! I agree with your mom, everything is just on the horizon!! Please never give up, the world needs your voice and your art, and the world is so much better for having you in it <3
Everything you need is somewhere near. In your grass. To see it, occasionally we must regroup. Be centered. Open to receiving wisdom and energy from the cosmos. A neurologic paradigm shift.
When chakras are aligned and chi is focused, one can see and do anything they wish. Please be mindful of what you wish for.
This is a beautiful story. The imagery of Yukari tending to her bamboo seeds is a powerful reminder of perseverance and the unseen potential that lies within us all.
The lessons you've captured are spot-on: consistency, delayed gratification, trust in the process, and the importance of community. It's a great reminder to keep showing up and nurturing our dreams, even when results seem slow to appear.
I especially love the closing message - that everything we need is already within us. We just need the right kind of "watering" to help it flourish. Thank you for sharing this gem! This is one I'll definitely bookmark and revisit for inspiration.
Thanks for sharing this lovely story! I love that her whole village thrived.
Thank you so much for reading! I am so grateful for you!! 💜
Brilliant piece of writing Alex. I shared my thoughts on this parable into a post when I restacked. 🙏
